With a vision to create a vibrant and authentic city experience unparalleled in the South, NewTown Macon – with generous funding from the Peyton Anderson Foundation – has injected new life into the city not unlike what Asheville, Chattanooga, and other southern cities have experienced recently. Today, Macon has close to 700 market rate loft units in the central business district (with the aim to create 600 more in the next five years), 58 restaurants and counting, more than three dozen bars and music venues, stunning architecture dating back to the 1800s like The Hay House, and eight art galleries.

Macon’s public schools offer top programs like the International Baccalaureate and the historic Alexander II Math and Science Magnet. Students can also benefit from Georgia’s HOPE and Zell Miller Scholarships, with Zell Miller covering full tuition for eligible residents. Residents enjoy quality healthcare with facilities like Piedmont Macon Medical Center and The Medical Center through Atrium Health Navicent, Georgia’s second-largest hospital and a Level I trauma center.
